For the third year at GLR we had to do 2 internships. I got to do an internship at DAMEN, which is located in the pronvince Zeeland. And since I live in Zuid-Holland I would need to take the train/ car to get there.
To make this easier I got a room nearby Damen and stayed there 3 days a week. This meant that I'd need to cook for myself. And I thought it was a fun idea to store all the recipes that I know, from online to family members.

This was still just an idea. And when I watched a show called "Young Sheldon" I got interested in the way that Sheldons grandmother had stored her recipes. By using a recipe box.

So I searched online for a cute box to store my recipes in. After I found one and bought it I saw on Etsy that a lot of other people already had some recipe boxes made. However, I thought that it was way cooler too just make my own deisgn. For my box I still needed alphabetic tabs and a design for my recipe cards.

This was quite a challenge too think because not many online shops have these alphabetic tabs. But I eventually found one bij 123inkt.nl.
I then looked once again on Etsy to get inspired by other peoples recipe box designs and to get an idea how I wanted my own cards too look like.

After I got the tabs I knew that they were too big for the box itself. So I had to cut them a bit.
After I finished cutting the tabs to the right size I used the outline to measure them for the size of the cards themself.

After I got those and made the first few recipes that I already got I still had to print them out. I choose to do different colours that way it's easier for me to spot if it's a big one or a small recipe.

Brown once are meant for just one side of the card. The white once are for dubble sided cards.

In order to get my recipes printed out etc. I used a different colour to get the difference bigger, and to not use too much colour from the printer. Since they're so small I can fit 3 on one page so that saves some paper. I then laminate them because I might use them in the future too close to the food I am making and get it dirty. Then instead of having to reprint I can simply wash it off. After I'm done laminating I use a cutting machine to get the edges sharper then when I use scissors.

I used Adobe InDesign to design the cards.

After a few months of these my mom found a magazine from Albert Heijn where they used a QR-code to go too the recipe. And my mom thought that that was a good idea for me to use in my recipe box.
And after a bit of trying to see if the QR-codes still would work (and they did) I made a new coloured recipe card.

On this card I'd put the title and what you'd need. But instead of also writing down hwo to prepare the dish, I pasted the Qr-code and after scanning it with my phone I can go to the original recipe on the AH site.
